Log Cabin Home Designs... Monumental Magnificence!
The log cabin home designs featured here showcase a spectacular en- tertainment lodge on a 4,500 acre cattle
ranch in Montana. Designed by Ewing Architects in Pasadena, California, this 10,000 square foot stone and log
structure is absolutely extraordinary!
Rarely do we get an opportunity to see a private lodge of this stature. Meticulously designed and magnificently
executed, this is truly one for the ages!
Employing
post and beam
construction, the lodge at Shining Mountain Ranch utilizes generous amounts of stone on its exterior.
Pictured above, right, and below is the front facade with its large entry tower.
A side view shows some of the massive stone chimneys in this log cabin home design. Note the built-in storage
area for firewood.
At the rear, a massive covered porch and stone terrace dominate the fa- cade . . . . .
. . . with a close-up view showing a wall of multi-pane windows and doors that open onto the terrace, and
enormous log columns supporting the porch roof.
Stone is also used in abundance on the interior. The
dry stacked stone
fireplace pictured below -- one of many in the lodge -- is located in the foyer.
In the library/billiard room, a massive stone masonry fireplace dominates one end of the room. Note the
cozy inglenook incorporated in the fireplace design.
Another view of the library/billiard room shows the built-in gun cabinets surrounded by stone.
The expansive kitchen includes a large island with a stainless steel counter top. Easy to maintain ceramic
tile covers the floor.
A built-in bar is anchored on either end by massive log columns to support the structural beams overhead.
And finally, taking center stage, is the incredible media room pictured be- low. Over-stuffed sofas and chairs
ensure a comfortable viewing experi- ence in this monumental lodge!
